Absence from the school without leave is not tolerated except when the causes is a sudden illness.
Leave of absence is not given without a previous written application from the parent/ guardian stating the reason, which must be a serious one. Such reasons as birthdays, excursions, festivals, urgent business, time to study for an examination, are not considered sufficient.
After an absence from the class the reasons for the absence must be entered briefly (one line statement) in the Regularity Record under ‘Absent’ in the calendar. The statement must be written and signed by Parent/ Guardian.
Reasons for an absence due to unforeseen circumstances even if only for a day or due to sickness which may exceed 2 or 3 days, must also be stated in a letter (from a Doctor or from the parent / guardian) besides being entered briefly in the Regularity Record under ‘Absent’. Reasons of private nature may always be submitted in the letter.
A fine may be imposed by the Principal for absences from school which cannot be justified.
If an unauthorized absence from school exceeds 15 days, the student’s name may be stuck off the rolls, and he/she may not be readmitted to school.
Leave for religious ceremonies or special occasions must be obtained beforehand.
A leave granted must be recorded in the Regularity Record under ‘Leave’ in the calendar.
Late arrival to school is a breach of discipline. A student who comes late to school must enter the date and time of arrival into the Regularity Record under ‘Late’.
The school declines all responsibility, if through failure to produce a letter giving reasons for his /her absence or delay, a student is obliged to return home during school hours.
Re-admission to class, for absentees and late-comers, is granted when they show the teacher in charge the Regularity Record duly counter-signed by the Principal or Vice-Principal.
